Biography

Despite my French surname, Becque (pronounced Beck) I was born in Dover, England. I have been on stage since the age of 10 and for three consecutive summers I performed in London and travelled Europe in various productions for the National Youth Theatre. I then continued to study my craft by working for a local Repertory Theatre Company.

In 1986, following in the footsteps of my dancing sister, I headed for the Caribbean to work for an international cruise line as an entertainer and cruise staff member, very much like being a "Red Coat" at sea. This experience rocked my world! The Costa Cruises passengers seemed to enjoy my enthusiastic personality, which also made me a big hit with the crew. After completing a 2-year apprenticeship, at just 22, I became the youngest Cruise Director in the world.

After 6 amazing years at sea, I took my webbed-feet ashore and moved to Los Angeles, to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Art. After graduating, I appeared in various theatre productions, including a six-month run of "Wuthering Heights" and my own production of August Strindberg's "Miss Julie" whilst working on two projects for Universal Studios. I loved every minute of it, and would go back to LA in a heart beat.

In 1996, when my US visa expired, I returned to the UK for a short period before flying to Greece to troubleshoot a new shipping project with Renaissance Cruises. My newly acquired "Hollywood education" enabled me to take my career to new heights and I achieved unprecedented results for four cruise lines. I was challenged by new and longer itineraries, which culminated in a 60-day circumnavigation of South America aboard the well respected classic liner, Stella Solaris.

These successes lead to a contract aboard the Seawing for Sun Cruises owned by Airtours (part of My Travel). It was only a little ship with 800 passengers, but the entire crew were dedicated to success and the entertainment package was amazing for such a restrictive budget. The passengers loved the ship, crew, entertainment, deck parties, food and itineraries, ensuring a good time for all.

Two years later, whilst cruising the Far East, I received an invitation from good friend and Head of Entertainment for Cunard, Martin Lilly, to become a Cruise Director aboard the world's most famous ocean liners; the QE2 and the Queen Mary 2 during her inaugural year. It was here that I achieved the pinnacle of my career at sea, working with the finest entertainers and equipment in the industry.

Having found myself at the very top of my field, I retired from the world of cruising to enjoy a new arena of challenges in television.

In 2005, after appearances on NTL, ITV and Sky, I joined the award winning team at Sit-up Channels and began presenting five days a week on Bid tv, a fast, fun and interactive auction channel, now owned by Virgin Media. As a fulltime tv presenter, offering 15 hours of live television each week, I have generated more than 1,500 hours of live tv and sold thousands of products. I love my job. I mean, I LOVE IT!!! And if you ever watch, you'll probably be able to tell, because I'm told that my enthusiasm is contagious!
